1 Track is the normal PCM procedure also used for the dubbing of Video8 recordings. For this an additional side track is utilized. This track is also available for audio recordings without video.

6 Track means the technology used only in 4 distinct models (EV-S600, -650, -700, -850) called multi PCM, the models being named DAV (Digital Audio Video) VCR's. They are capable to record 6 parrallel tracks of best digital multi PCM audio signals, enabling up to 24hours of digital sound on one cassette. During playback the 6 tracks may be changed in any way similar to 6 radio stations on a stereo receiver, however, this should not be campared with a 6 track multitrack tape, where the tracks may be mixed and copied as desired.

In the O-drive the tape is wound counterclockwise around the headdrum, thus writing an "O".

In the U-Laufwerk the tape is wound from 2 sides around the head drum, thus writing a "U".

The F-drive is a redesigned U-drive. It comprises a more solid capstan and has the option of a fast rewind of the tape without touching the headdrum. Certain other weak points of the U-dive were also improved. For further details see Drives.
